    The museum is a testament of early Canadian social program. Started in 1887, the institution received the poor and needies sent there by city officials. In return for food and shelter, they helped run the farm there. The building itself is magnificent and was a safe haven for thousands of people over 60 years. I am genuinely touched by the mission and what they did. I recommend people visit and experience the benevolent atmosphere. Also take a walk to the cemetery where they buried those died without family claiming their bodies. Life is precious and respected disregard of their wealth or lack of it.

    Lots of local information and history about the area. This place used to be the poor house of the area and contains a lot of history about it.
